As a family, we are obsessed with mangoes. Every year, we eagerly look forward to those boxes of Alphonso Mangoes in the Indian stores. Though we love eating them as they are, I am always eager to add these ripe and juicy mangoes to my recipes. This year, I have been pretty successful in making quite a few recipes with Alphonso Mangoes. Though I haven’t added all of them to the blog, this Mango Ice Popsicle deserves a special place here.
Mangoes and desserts make a great combination! I am a bit more partial when it comes to frozen desserts. Especially when it is homemade, you can always ensure that the ingredients used are fresh. These frozen desserts are perfect for kids to indulge in with no preservatives.
When I decided to make these creamy mango popsicles, I wanted to replicate the taste and texture of our Indian Mango Kulfi while keeping the method simple. So, I used similar ingredients to those used in kulfi and just combined them. This no-cook version of frozen mango popsicles is a super hit in my house.

- Mango: You will need juice, sweet, ripe mango chunks
- Milk: Use full-fat milk for the best results

- Sugar: Though the mangoes are naturally sweetened, a tiny bit of sugar adds a taste to the popsicles. You can replace sugar with honey or maple syrup.
- Cardamom Powder: Adds a nice flavour to the popsicles

How to make Mango Popsicles with Cream
Blend: Combine the sugar, milk and whipping cream in a blender. Blend until you have a frothy mixture. Add the cardamom powder, diced mango pieces. Blend them again.
Taste Test: Taste your mango mixture. Depending on the sweetness of your mangoes, you might want to add more sugar or honey. Remember, the mixture will taste slightly less sweet once frozen.
Pour: Carefully pour the mixture into popsicle moulds. Small cups with popsicle sticks will do just fine if you don’t have moulds. Top the mixture with chopped nuts, if desired.
Freeze: Freeze the popsicles for at least 4 hours or until solid.
Enjoy: To release the popsicles, run warm water over the outside of the moulds for a few seconds, then gently pull them out. Enjoy the delicious homemade mango popsicles.
Tips & Suggestions
- Choosing Mangoes: For the best flavour, use ripe mangoes. They should feel slightly soft to the touch and have a fragrant aroma. If fresh mangoes are unavailable, use canned mango puree.
- Creaminess Factor: Adjust the creaminess to your liking by playing with the ratio of mango to whipping cream or milk. Add more mango for a fruitier popsicle and more cream base for a creamier texture. You can also add coconut milk, coconut cream, Greek yogurt, and mango puree.
- Add-Ins: For an added texture and flavour boost, consider adding small chunks of mango, coconut flakes, chopped nuts, or a swirl of honey right before freezing.
- Sweetness: Adjust the sugar according to the sweetness of the mangoes. Sugar can be replaced with honey or maple syrup, or you can skip it altogether if you do not want an additional sweetener.
