Love for Paneer
Paneer is one of my favourites and is also loved by a number of Vegetarians and Non Vegetarians across the Globe. It’s a crowd pleaser and a perfect option for a quick snack, delicious side dish or even pulao.
As far as I have noticed, from adults to kids, everyone has a never ending craze for paneer which makes it a great ingredient option for evening snacks , lunchbox or even a potluck.
Though Paneer doesn’t have a taste of its own, it easily absorbs the spices added to the dish which makes it an extremely versatile ingredient.

About Paneer Cheese Balls Recipe
Right from my college days, I have been this crazy fan of corn cheese balls. We had a restaurant that we often visited when I was living in Chennai. Corn Cheese Balls was their superstar dish which I could never get enough of. After moving out of Chennai, I made them often in my own cooking style to satisfy my sudden cravings.
Few years later, we found out that my husband developed an allergy for corn. So, I decided to replace corn with paneer so that I can continue to relish this delicious starter. Paneer snacks are always a hit and this Indian Style Cheese Balls Recipe is our favourite now.
I am not sure how it is made in restaurants but this recipe is a simple one with basic spices from the pantry and tastes really good. While many of us often stick to our traditional Indian recipes for fried snacks, these paneer cheese balls are a welcome change. With paneer and cheese recipes being kids favourite, after school snack gets sorted easily with this recipe.

The crispy texture, mild spice, taste of paneer and finally the cheese oozing out of these deep fried paneer balls makes it an extremely tempting dish. You just can’t stop with one. Serve these paneer cheese balls with a hot cup of tea for a perfect monsoon/ winter treat.
How to make Paneer Cheese Balls
To make these paneer balls, first grate or Crumble Paneer and add it to a bowl. Add finely chopped onion, coriander leaves, salt, red chilli powder, all purpose flour / maida, cornflour to the crumbled paneer.

Bring the mixture together and make a nice dough. Make a flat patty on your palm and stuff it with a piece of cheese.

Seal from all sides and roll it to a tight ball. Take cornflour in a bowl. Add water and make a thin paste. Dip the ball into this cornflour slurry.

Coat the paneer balls in breadcrumbs

Refrigerate these paneer cheese balls for 15 mins. After 15 mins, deep fry in oil on low to medium flame till the balls turn golden brown. Serve these crispy paneer cheese balls with ketchup or any spicy dip.

Note before making these paneer balls
Cheese : I have used cheese cubes in this recipe. You can use grated mozzarella cheese instead of cheese cubes and stuff it in.
Instead of stuffing the cheese, you can add grated cheese to the paneer mixture directly, mix it together and make balls.
Spice : Adjust red chilli powder according to your spice level. You can also add green chilli instead of red chilli powder.
Additional Ingredients : Boiled and crumbled potato can be used along with paneer mixture. The spices can be altered according to your taste.
You can add garam masala, chaat masala, red chilli flakes, oregano or any other spices you prefer.
While Serving : Serve these Paneer Cheese Balls while they are hot. That is when you can taste the melted cheese in your mouth. In case, you are serving the balls a little later, make sure you re heat it for a minute and serve.
This way, the cheese would be melted inside and you can taste the melted cheese in every bite.
