I like this Oreo mug cake because it is forgiving. You can change it to suit your taste. Add chocolate chips for more chocolate, a teaspoon of vanilla for extra flavour, or a scoop of ice cream on top. You can use milk or a dairy-free alternative. That makes this a flexible recipe perfect for beginners. If you would like to try another delicious no bake dessert, try my Biscoff Chocolate Truffles recipe.

Why you will love this Quick Oreo Mug Cake Recipe?

This oreo mug cake is a super quick recipe. Ready in about 1 minute in the microwave.

Requires Minimal cleanup. You only need one mug and a spoon.

This one minute mug cake is a single serving recipe. No leftovers, no waste.

This microwave cake is a Beginner-friendly recipe. No baking experience needed.

Uses common and easily available ingredients

How to make 1 Minute Oreo Mug Cake in a Microwave?

Break the oreo biscuits and add them to a mixie jar. Add cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder and grind to a coarse powder. Add milk to the above mixture and grind once. (This grinding part is optional. You can directly add the ingredients to a mug. I prefer this for an even texture)

Brush some oil or melted butter to a mug. Add the above oreo mixture to the mug. Add chopped chocolate or chocolate chips. Since we are grinding the ingredients, we can add a few crushed Oreo pieces for texture.

Microwave on high for 50–70 seconds. Start with 50 seconds and check. The cake should rise and look set on top; the center may be slightly moist but not raw. Do not overcook — it will dry out quickly.

Let the mug rest for 1 minute (it is very hot). Top with ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, or a dusting of cocoa or crushed Oreos. Enjoy hot.

Tips to make the best 1 minute Oreo mug cake recipe

Microwaves vary. Start checking at 50 seconds and add 5–10 seconds if needed.

For a gooey center, aim for the lower end of the time range.

The cake continues to cook a little after microwaving, so don’t overcook.

Note the exact time that works for your microwave and write it down.

Use only microwave-safe mugs and utensils.

Ice cream melts faster on very hot cake—if you prefer, let it cool 30–60 seconds.

Variations

Oreo Cheesecake in a Mug : Add 2 tablespoons of cream cheese to the batter before microwaving for a creamy center.

Nutella Oreo Mug Cake: Swirl a teaspoon of Nutella into the batter for a hazelnut twist.

Peanut Butter Oreo Mug Cake: Drop in 1 teaspoon peanut butter for a salty-sweet flavor.

.Coffee Oreo: Add ¼ teaspoon instant coffee or espresso powder to intensify chocolate flavour.

Serving Suggestion

Serve hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Dust with powdered sugar and top with a crushed Oreo.

Add whipped cream, chocolate chips, and a mint leaf for color.

Top with sliced strawberries or banana for fresh contrast.

Serve with a small cup of strong coffee or espresso.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use other cookies instead of Oreos?

Yes. Any sandwich cookie will work, like chocolate filled or orange filled cookies. Flavour and sweetness will change slightly.

What if my mug cake is raw in the middle?

Microwave for 5–10 more seconds and check again. Microwaves vary a lot, so start with short intervals.

Why did my mug cake overflow?

Use a mug with enough room. Batter rises, so leave about ⅓ of the mug empty.

Can I reduce sugar?

Yes. Oreos are sweet, so you can reduce or skip added sugar. Taste the batter and adjust.

Ingredients

  • 6 Oreo Biscuits

  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 6 tablespoon Milk
  • Chocolate Chips / Chocolate Pieces a handful

Optional

  • Oreo Biscuit few peices, for texture
  • 1 scoop Vanilla Ice Cream for topping and serving

Instructions

  • Break the oreo biscuits and add them to a mixie jar. Add cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder and grind to a coarse powder. Add milk to the above mixture and grind once. (This grinding part is optional. You can directly add the ingredients to a mug. I prefer this for an even texture. )
  • Brush some oil or melted butter to a microwave safe mug. Add the above oreo mixture to the mug. Add chopped chocolate or chocolate chips. Since we are grinding the ingredients, we can add a few crushed Oreo pieces for texture.
  • Microwave on high for 50–70 seconds. Start with 50 seconds and check. The cake should rise and look set on top; the center may be slightly moist but not raw. Do not overcook — it will dry out quickly.
  • Let the mug rest for 1 minute (it is very hot). Top with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, or a dusting of cocoa or crushed Oreos. Enjoy hot.

Notes

You can crush the cookies and mix the ingredients directly in the mug. I have used a mixie jar just for the convenience of blending it right.
Start with less sugar and adjust according to your taste. Since oreo cookies are already sweet, you can omit the sugar as well.
Start checking at 50 seconds and add 5–10 seconds if needed.
