How to make Tomato Mint Chutney

Add little oil to a pan. Once hot, add urad dal, cumin seeds, and red chillies.
Saute till well roasted.

Add chopped tomatoes. Cook till tomatoes turn soft and mushy.

How to make tomato pudina chutney

Add a handful of mint leaves. Cook for a few minutes. Let the mixture cool down.

Transfer the ingredients to a mixie jar. Add the required amount of salt. Grind well.

Add sesame oil to a pan. Add mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves. Once they splutter, add them to the chutney.

Serve this delicious pudina thakkali chutney with idli, dosa or kuzhi paniyaram.

How to make tomato mint chutney

Variations

If you like garlic flavour, you can add a few cloves of garlic to the chutney.

You can add coriander leaves for more greens in the chutney.

Coconut can be added to the chutney for a different flavour.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Urad Dal
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 4 Red Chillies
  • 2 medium Tomatoes
  • a handful Mint Leaves
  • as needed Salt

To Temper

  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • ½ teaspoon Urad Dal
  • few Curry Leaves

Instructions
 

  • Add little oil to a pan. Once hot, add urad dal, cumin seeds, and red chillies. Saute till well roasted.

Notes
