Roasted phool makhana, or fox nuts, is a healthy and delicious snack recipe made by slow roasting or toasting phool makhana with spices and seasonings.
Add 2 teaspoon ghee/oil to a pan and let it melt. Add the phool makhana to the pan and roast on low heat for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally until it becomes crispy.
There should be a crunching sound when you bite the roasted makhana.
Once the phool makhana is roasted, add the salt and spices. Toss and mix well with the makhana.
Add 2 teaspoon ghee and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the phool makhana is coated well with the spices and ghee.
Turn off the heat and transfer the roasted phool makhana to a serving bowl.
Let it cool down before serving. Once it cools down, store it in an airtight container. Your roasted phool makhana is now ready to be enjoyed as a snack.
Notes
Ensure you do the entire process on a low flame to avoid burning spices and makhana. Roast well till makhana turns crispy. Adjust spices and salt to suit your taste. Pepper powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder can also be added to this recipe. You can use either ghee or oil in this recipe. I prefer using ghee, but you can use any oil of your choice.
