Ingredients

  • 2 cup Sweet Corn Kernels
  • 1 tablespoon Butter or Oil
  • ¼ teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Chaat Masala
  • Salt as needed
  • ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon / Lime Juice
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander Leaves

Instructions

If using Fresh Sweet Corn

  • Remove the husks from the corn cobs and rinse them thoroughly. Carefully cut off the corn kernels from the cob using a sharp knife. Start boiling the corn in water over a medium flame in a deep-bottomed pan.
  • Let it simmer for 10-12 minutes. Now, drain the water and keep the corn aside.
  • Once the corn kernels are ready, add the melted butter/oil and the boiled corn in a large bowl.

If using Frozen Sweet Corn

  • If using frozen corn, thaw, rinse, and drain the corn before using. Add the frozen corn along with butter or oil to a microwave-safe bowl and cook 4 to 5 minutes or until the corn is cooked enough. Or, heat a non-stick pan with butter/oil and sauté for 4 to 5 minutes.

Prepare the Masala Corn

  • Combine the cooked corn kernels with Red chilli powder, chaat masala, cumin powder, black pepper powder, and salt.
  • Add fresh coriander leaves and lemon or lime juice in a mixing bowl.
  • Adjust the spice levels and tanginess according to your preference.
  • Mix everything well, ensuring that the spices are evenly distributed.
  • Sweet Corn Chaat can be served hot or at room temperature.

Notes

Paprika powder, amchur powder, black salt, coriander powder, cayenne pepper, pepper powder, and garam masala are a few other spice powders that can be added to this sweet corn chaat recipe. Adjust the spice level to suit your taste.
