Masala Corn, also known as Sweet Corn Chaat, is a popular street food and Indian snack that features sweet corn kernels seasoned with a flavorful blend of spices.
Remove the husks from the corn cobs and rinse them thoroughly. Carefully cut off the corn kernels from the cob using a sharp knife. Start boiling the corn in water over a medium flame in a deep-bottomed pan.
Let it simmer for 10-12 minutes. Now, drain the water and keep the corn aside.
Once the corn kernels are ready, add the melted butter/oil and the boiled corn in a large bowl.
If using Frozen Sweet Corn
If using frozen corn, thaw, rinse, and drain the corn before using. Add the frozen corn along with butter or oil to a microwave-safe bowl and cook 4 to 5 minutes or until the corn is cooked enough. Or, heat a non-stick pan with butter/oil and sauté for 4 to 5 minutes.
Prepare the Masala Corn
Combine the cooked corn kernels with Red chilli powder, chaat masala, cumin powder, black pepper powder, and salt.
Add fresh coriander leaves and lemon or lime juice in a mixing bowl.
Adjust the spice levels and tanginess according to your preference.
Mix everything well, ensuring that the spices are evenly distributed.
Sweet Corn Chaat can be served hot or at room temperature.
Notes
