Double Beans Pulao

Double Beans Pulao is a delicious Indian rice dish with double beans (Lima beans) and aromatic spices. This mild and wholesome pulao can be served with raita or other Indian curries and gravies.

¾ cup Double Beans / Lima Beans I have used frozen beans 1 cup Basmati Rice 3 teaspoon Oil 1 teaspoon Fennel Seeds/Saunf 2 Cloves 1 Cinnamon Stick 1 Bay leaf 1 Star Anise 1 Green Chilli 1 Onion thinly sliced 1 Tomato finely chopped Mint Leaves a handful Coriander Leaves a handful ¼ teaspoon Turmeric Powder ½ teaspoon Garam Masala Powder 1 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder Salt as needed 1 & ½ cups Water 1 teaspoon Ghee
Wash and soak 1 cup Basmati Rice in water for 20 minutes.
Add oil to a pressure cooker. Add saunf, cloves, cinnamon stick, bay Leaf, star anise. Sauté until a nice fragrance comes.
Add green chilli and sliced onion. Sauté until the onion changes colour slightly.
Add a finely chopped tomato. Sauté till it becomes slightly mushy. Add a handful of mint and coriander leaves. Cook for a minute.
Add turmeric powder, garam masala powder, and red chilli powder. Cook for a minute.
Add double beans. Mix well. Add salt to your taste.
Add water. Once it starts boiling, drain the water from basmati rice and add the rice. Mix. Cook for two whistles on medium flame. Switch off.
Let the pressure release naturally. Open. Add 1 teaspoon ghee. Gently fluff the pulao and serve with raita or any gravy.
Adjust Salt and spices to suit your taste.
You can add upto 1 cup of Lima beans in this recipe.
