Ingredients

  • 1 & 3/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 & 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter softened
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tbsp Orange zest
  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice
  • 1/4 cup Milk

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper.
  • Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Mix in the orange zest and orange juice until well combined.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the mixing bowl in three batches, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Enjoy your delicious Orange Loaf Cake!

Notes

Use fresh oranges for the best flavour and aroma.
Ensure all the ingredients, especially the butter and eggs, are at room temperature. This helps them blend easily and create a lighter and fluffier texture.
Mix the batter until it's just combined. Overmixing can cause the cake to become dense.
You can use a loaf pan that's the correct size for the recipe. If the pan is too small, the batter may overflow, and the cake may not rise properly if it's too large.
Add orange zest to the batter for extra flavour. This is the outer layer of the orange peel that contains a lot of essential oils and adds a burst of citrus flavour to the cake.
Test the cake for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, the cake is cooked well. If not, bake it for a few more minutes and test it again.
Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely. This helps the cake to set and prevents it from breaking apart when you remove it from the pan.
