As a child, I haven’t had the opportunity to know or experience much about Halloween as it’s not a tradition back in India. After moving to Germany, I got to experience this tradition and found it to be a lot of fun! Right from wearing spooky costumes, pumpkin carving, going for trick or treat and eating numerable candies and Halloween treats, there is so much to look forward to! Both children and adults participate with equal enthusiasm which makes it all the more fun and interesting.

I have also added in a little bit of Espresso Powder to make these more yum! These cookies are rich, slightly crisp and chewy. What more is needed for a perfect cookie!

These cookies don’t need any fancy baking experience or equipment. These are easy cookies that can be made within 30 minutes on any day. Also, just leave the candies out and these cookies will be perfect for an everyday snack.

Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature.

Line the baking tray using parchment paper or silicone baking mat. This ensures the cookies don’t stick to the baking sheet.

If you want to have a dark, black cookie, you can use a dark cocoa powder or black icing colour. It is totally optional!

If you have a hand mixer or a stand mixer, it makes the job easier to use them to make these cookies.

You can use any candy of your choice to decorate on top. You can also leave these candies out if you just want to make regular chocolate cookies.

Scoop the cookie dough using an ice cream scoop or cookie scoop to have uniform cookies.

Use all purpose flour or any gluten free flour in place of wholewheat flour.

These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for 5 days at room temperature.

    Freezing the cookie dough

Scoop out the cookie dough and store them in a zip lock bag. Freeze the dough for up to 3 months. Later when the cookie needs to be baked, thaw them at room temperature for a few minutes and bake the cookies.
